It’s as easy as One, Two, Three – Understanding the Relationship between Sales and Marketing

This week, Look hosted our first Business Wise Seminar of 2017 featuring Daria Malin from Boost Strategic Coaching. As a recognized business coach from Saskatoon, Daria spoke on the topic of Understanding the Relationship between Sales and Marketing, and dove into why it’s important that we understand how these two departments work together and not separately. The presentation was engaging, as Daria requested audience participation and asked members to really think about their own business and how sales and marketing play an important role.

If you didn’t get a chance to attend the presentation, there were three important questions that Daria left the audience to think about:

  1. What do you do?
  2. Why does it matter?
  3. Who should care?

I think the most important takeaway from the presentation was clearly defining who you are trying to speak to as a business by answering these questions. Identify your niche market(s) and craft your messages for sales and marketing around that. Too often businesses are too general with who they are trying to target, and are left targeting no one. It’s important to understand that by honing in on who your customer is and having a clear message for how you want to attract them, you will help both the sales and marketing teams work together towards a common goal(s).

Look wants to give a special shout out and thank you to Daria for presenting, and to everyone who attended the seminar. This was the first of five Look Business Wise Seminar luncheons at the Travelodge Hotel and Conference Centre, and we couldn’t have been happier with the turnout and participation.

Why attend a Look Business Wise Seminar?

The Business Wise Seminar is an event put on by Look that acts as the conduit between entrepreneurs and professionals. We want to create an opportunity and environment to have meaningful conversations, and establish local partnerships and relationships among participants. With a focus on the local talent we have right here in our province, Look has teamed up with professionals who will share their own success stories and how they got there.

Stay tuned to your email for the announcement of our next seminar happening on May 16, 2017 (mark your calendars!) If you want to be added to our mailing list or have any questions, please email Katie at [email protected].
